We Are Here.
Sometimes, I sit back in wonder at the world we live in: we live in a world where both past and present exist in alternate universes. They exist alongside one another. Others may say our worlds “coexist.” I disagree in part—even in whole. We may share oxygen but are “worlds” apart from being aware of the true—authentic, existence of the other. We know they are out there—on Earth, but we do not know of the world they live in; nor, are they aware of our “world.” We are so separate and different that if we engage with them in any way, it will most likely lead to their demise—physically, culturally, mentally, and even to the detriment of their nation.
I am reminded of this parallel existence when view examples of remaining aboriginal or first-nation people, ancient fruits and vegetables varieties, and the few animals with lines tracing thousands of years in history. They can exist without outside support, technology, modern structures, or medicines, and seem to flourish happily without such interference. While we seek perfection in hair, skin, and even colors, the first-nation people and aboriginal nations flourish in their conflicting beauty. Their beauty goes against what we (the average man) thought we knew. Many are surprised to see an “Black” person with authentic bright blond hair and blue eyes. We see all of mankind in one people. We are one.
We were here before. We are here. We will be here.
We Are Here,
—Stephania P. Biddings
I see a beautiful man.
I see the beauty of nature walking.
I see nature and mankind as one.
I see nature’s work of art.
I see and feel strength.
I see and feel power.
I see someone, who looks like someone I know.
We are here!
We have been here before.
We have never left.
…and, we never will.
